is the nx1000 getting a successor this year?

the nx200/210 is getting nx300 as successor this year.

the nx20 is getting nx-r as successor this year.

but is the nx1000 getting a successor this year? and if so what do you think the likelihood of it getting an oled screen?

i ask because i want an oled samsung nx for around £350. the nx300 is rumored to be around $750 which means will probably release at nx210 current price of £600.

an nx200 is around £300 at the moment at looks my best bet unless nx1000 gets a successor this year and samsung try to get oled screens in all their cameras. but i have not found any news of a nx1000 successor coming out this year.

have you heard anything regarding an nx1000 successor this year and what's your opinion if there is one that it will have an oled screen?

thanks a lot in advance for your expert advise

Re: is the nx1000 getting a successor this year?

As the "Nex3 / EP-M" in the NX lineup , there`s not a lot they can do to the NX1000 - the NX300 hasn`t really added a great deal to the NX210 (still no EVF port, same 20Mp sensor. LCD still isn`t the EX1-like full twist, same ergonomics etc) so putting an OLED screen into a new "NX1100" wouldn`t be a good move on their part

It could gain the bigger buffer and properly compessed RAWs (a 12 bit RAW should be no bigger than the pixel count - 20Mp = 20Mb files, a few more Mb for 14Bit) which would make it worth having as would a touch screen .

I still can`t see why Sammy dropped the EVF port - Rather senseless as they even have an EVF on the market for the NX100 (and an EVF isn`t going to kill sales of the SLR shap models, ask Panasonic) - Japanese camera companies are the most illogical of beasts (witness Canon, Nikon & Fuji wonderous blunders over the years) - looks like the disease has spread to Korea

why no EVF? poor sales on the old optional VF. although I can't blame the consumers considering the only existing EVF for the NX was horrible.

NX1000 successor in my opinion doesn't make sense, but the NX300 does if the reports are true that they improved the AF capability of the camera and enhanced the sensor further by introducing a new image engine which we have yet to see. I just hope that they make the DR much flexible rather than having to shoot at ideal exposure. focus peaking is a great addition for old manual focus lenses.

Considering that the improvements with nx300 are quite substantial (new sensor, faster processor) we could see a nx2000 or whatever with those features, but perhaps to differentiate it from the bigger sister they might use again a normal fixed (non tiltable) lcd screen like the one in nx1000.

Re: is the nx1000 getting a successor this year?

I'm thinking of buying a NX1000 just because I get a free camera with the 20-50mm and 30mm price of 465 Euros here in Italy (175 Euros for the zoom and 310 Euros of the prime if I buy seperatly), no 16mm kit unfortunately

I don't think Samsung's NX-R is a successor to NX20 since it's a different breed, by size and ergonomics. I'm still waiting curios and patiently for NX30.

Nx1000 at that price could be a great camera while you wait for the next nx genearation!

Anything "free" is good (since I would be buying the 30mm anyways) ... I'm just really disappointed by the lack of 16mm combo option, well at least it's not all that expensive anyways ^_^

Re: is the nx1000 getting a successor this year?

Samsung do very few accessories for any of their cameras. It is probably the reason for their success in that they are in the box it, ship it, sell it and then forget about it market. Very lucrative but little time is wasted on after sales support and they are good at finding the right markets to sell into.

They are having a go with NX but it is not really in their DNA to distribute extras to bolt on to something they have already sold. I know this from trying to find the charger they illustrated in the WB5500 catalogue which just never had or never would exist as far as I could find. The fact there was no part number was a clue to this. I do like to buy the proper chargers as every third party charger I have seen drops the central thermistor detect pin which I do think makes life just a little safer. Presumably it is there for a reason.

Probably providing customer service is the big mistake the established Japanese manufacturers are making as the our economy is very much geared to disposable goods. Waste is profit.

Which is bizarre in the camera world as most of the mony is made on rip-off accessories (ask Olympus, the King of ripoff addons) . I guess the camera market in general isn`t in Samsung's DNA either (you can tell by the constant lack of setup options for things like command dials) , shame because the NX and EX series are not only serious contenders but leading the field in some respects .

It`s a real shame that they didn`t buy Pentax, the name alone would put NX on the map - though after the hit & miss DSLRs, the white elephant K01 and the laughable Q it may have been too late - it`s rather fitting that Pentax joined with an even more hit and miss company than they themselves - Ricoh ! . Whatever, IMO the Samsung name isn`t doing NX any favours.

I was talking to a guy in a camera shop and he said they had sent all their K01's back, I do not think they had sold a single one.

Some Olympus stuff is OK unlike their notorious lens hoods. The wide converter for the 14-42 lens is a super bit of kit and not too expensive. Distributing these extras is probably very expensive. I am tempted to get an EX2F as it is such a good price on Amazon and I must admit any lack of accessories is not really a show stopper and the quirky menus I can live with. It is just a Samsung thing that when so many things grey out you just reset in the menu. I suppose you lose custom settings and buttons but I usually forget what I have set up anyhow and never can make my mind up which are my favourite settings so back to base is not always a bad thing.

Re: is the nx1000 getting a successor this year?

You`re right about the EX2 Price, it has to be the best value "LX-alike" of all - it`s when you see that the NX1000 is also £250-odd new from Amazon traders that the EX2 doesn`t look quite so tempting .. Shame you can`t get the free pad with the NX1000 unless you Pay Amazon-UK`s inflated price .

Re: is the nx1000 getting a successor this year?

The price differntial on the NX1000 with the kit lens is quite a bit if you want the "free" tablet. For a minute I thought I was getting a bargain until I got to the checkout and noticed that the price of the tablet hadn't been removed!! However if you buy the twin lens kit then there is no difference between getting the camera with the tablet or without (at least here in the UK)

Which is what I have just done. Bought the NX1000 twin lens kit. Spent ages trying to decide between this and the Sony RX100 but in the end decided that the Samsung was better value as, for what was essentially the same price, it came with another lens (16mm) and a Galaxy tablet. While I have an ipad I think the tablet will be great to carry around with me when out shooting as I can put the manual and other photo guides on there that I can refer to while I am learning. Or I can sell it and get the camera for about £330

Now I just need to save up for the 30mm
