... you have to click the link besides the camera X-Pro 1 or X-E1.

The rest: Mehhhhhh, still no minimum shutter speed in auto-iso..

AF is subjectively faster

I've only been playing with it for a few minutes but it does seem subjectively faster. Maybe it's just wishful thinking but I don't think so! Fuji has sped up the X100s AF speed with FW updated. This one looks like a winner. Now if we can only get better Auto ISO control!

From the Fuji X-P1 firmware update page (also applies to X-E1)

  • 1.Adding the compatibility with "XF14mmF2.8R".
You will get the full performance of "XF14mmF2.8R", including Manual Focus function.
  • 2.Improvement in performance
    • (1)Accuracy of auto focus performance has been much improved under a various shooting condition. Shooting with XF35mm lens, Shooting for the target with relatively high frequency, One-push AF by pressing AE-L/AF-L button,
      • <Notice>
      • To enable more accurate AF performance with XF35mm lens, please update the firmware of your Fujinon XF35mm lens at the same time. Firmware version must be Ver 2.02 or later.
    • (2)Improvement of unexpected pixels recorded in the top far-left taken with XF18-55mm Lens under the condition of middle range focal length.

Note 2.2 corrects the unexpected pixels.

Fujifilm should publish in these notes a nice THANK YOU to all the beta testers.

Re: AF is subjectively faster

I'm not sure if AF is faster, after all the description only mentioned accuracy. However it seems to hunt less. Fuji seems to have changed the focus hunting from "quickly back and forth" to "slowly but surely".

Re: AF is subjectively faster

Hi Jose,

Seem to be getting sent round in circles on the Fuji site.

The links take you to a page that states X-E1 1.04 firmware at the top but when you scroll down the actual file to download is :- FWUP0001.DAT which is the last 1.01 firmware.

Anyone got any ideas or another link please.

Regards

GW

Re: AF is subjectively faster

This quoted feature "One-push AF by pressing AE-L/AF-L button" seems not be working on my X-Pro 1.

They've used the same file name for the firmware update.  Load that file and it will show up as 1.04 during firmware update.

X-E1, 35mm and 18-55mm Download links here

Hi Glen,

Indeed the download pages don't present the download links very clearly.

I have updated my X-E1, 35mm and 18-55mm lens successfully. Try these links:

35mm lens: FUJINON XF Lens: XF35mm Firmware Update Ver.2.02

18-55mm lens: FUJINON XF Lens: XF18-55mmF2.8-4 R LM OIS Firmware Update Ver.1.01

X-E1 Body: X-E1 Firmware Update Ver.1.04

Note: If you agree to the download, scroll to the bottom of each of the above web pages and click on the "I Agree - Begin Download" link"

regards,

Re: AF is subjectively faster

GW,

I think that's the right one. I would first check your downloads folder to see if you have a pre-existing firmware update. If you do, then you'll have 2 copies. Delete the old one and then download the linked FW. That should be the right one.

Refresh the page in your browser and you'll see the 1.04.

Re: New Firmware for XE1, Xpro1 and XF 35mm are officially launched!

The 35mm seems slower and noisier after the update. Maybe more accurate, but I never had an accuracy problem with it. That's on both of my X-E1s. Hmm..

The good news is the 18-55 does seem a bit faster.  But it is also noisier.

Re: AF is subjectively faster

Thanks for the replies and help.

The file is indeed 1.04 firmware with the same file name as the old one how foolish of me to think it would be called FWUP0004.DAT or something like that??

Loaded it no problem and focus-lock is now 200% faster

Arhh the power of suggestion haha.

Ok its not night and day but it may be a little better. Truth is apart from the kids running around I have had no issues with focus speed or accuracy, gotta love new firmware though just incase.

Thanks again

GW
