DP3M Poll: Who's interested?

I'm just wondering how many on this forum are interested in purchasing a DP3M.

If the lens on the DP3M is as good as the lens on the DP2M, and the reviews and infant mortality issues are all positive, I'm definitely interested in this one.

I say this even though my experience with my SD1 has been less than ideal.

Yes I want one!

Own a dp2 and dp1s, which I do not use anymore as I bought a Fuji Xpro-1 for more prof shooting

Waited for this kind of portrait lens on a DPM for professional use

So now its coming soon and will deliver Quality in the right hands

Interesting! My first experience with Sigma cameras was a DP2, and I recently bought a Fuji X-E1 with 18-55 zoom lens for everyday use.  My DP2 and other Sigma cameras seem to work OK, but to tell the truth I seldom use any of them anymore.  At this point "anymore" means the last month or so, since that's when I received my X-E1.

One of the best lenses I ever used on my SD cameras was/is the 50mm F2.8 EX DG Macro, and I could certainly tolerate being stuck with it (or a near equivalent but probably better) on a DP3M.

Very interested

I don't have any of the 'M' cameras and recently got to use a DP2M and was impressed how much it had improved over the old series. The DP3M would fit into my collection quite nicely. Dunno how much I'd use it (not been taking many photos lately) but certainly interested...

If the IQ equals my DP2M, I will buy one, without doubt.

Re: DP3M Poll: Who's interested?

I prefer to shoot landscapes with longer lenses anyway, so the longest lens I can get is better for me.

I actually also think it will be a great lens for shooting models, even if it is just f/2.8 and not a wider aperture... and it would eliminate the need to carry a macro lens on the SD-1 also.

I'm sure it will be super-sharp across the frame. Could be good in a lightweight pano setup.

I wonder why Sigma don't do a zoom lens version of the DP. I would happily sacrifice some aperture for say a 28-70 lens. I am sure that would make the camera a very attractive proposition.

This version of the camera already has quite a long lens so its not as though the `oom would be much, if any, larger.

Re: DP3M Poll: Who's interested?

Yep, I'm interested... but I just spent a whole swag of money on the DP2M and SD1M, so if I ever want to finance a trip to actually go and actually use this gear... Well, you know. So I hope to get one eventually.

Re: DP3M Poll: Who's interested?

It depends a tiny little bit on the quality of the upcoming SPP. Working on M files, the current version is dog slow on my relatively new Mac mini. This would turn the DP3M endeavour into pure frustration unless I also got a new computer, effectively doubeling the cost of the camera. And that is not going to happen.

Otherwise: Yes, sure, very interested actually.

Two things might help the speed on your Mac mini:

1) Add RAM

2) Add a solid state (flash) drive.

Re: DP3M Poll: Who's interested?

I'm purely PC based, not Mac. But I recently went to a 6GB RAM Windows 8 Lenovo... and SPP runs VERY much faster than on my 2GB RAM previous computer.

I have other frustrations with Windows 8, LOL, but not SPP's speed.

As Kendall writes, add RAM if at all possible... that would be true for other readers too.

I'll probably be getting the DP3Merrill.

Best regards, Sandy

If it has a larger buffer (14 shot instead of 7) then yes.
