Remote trigger problem 1000D

Hi Guys

i have a wired remote trigger and a wireless remote trigger for my 1000d, but when i use them to take a picture, the camera focusses, takes the picture, then the screen turns black and the whole camera freezes and won't take any more pictures until i disconnect the trigger.

does anyone have any suggestions? i was going to udate the firmware, but it's running 1.0.7 already.

please help

Thanks

Alex

What remote triggers are you using?  Maybe not fully compatible?  Are you using Live View?  Do the triggers work with live view off?

It might help lots, if you told everyone what mode you are trying to take the photo in.

Re: Remote trigger problem 1000D

hi there,

thanks for the replies so far.

i am using a Hama wired remote trigger, which works fine on it's own, but is only 6" long. i have an extension cable which screws onto it, but this causes the black screen to happen.

i also have a JYC wireless remote shutter release from eBay which causes the same problem.

Both are able to take one picture, but then the camera freezes until the trigger is disconnected.

I have tried in several different modes, but the same thing happens every time.

The wired remote works fine until i use the extension, so i know the trigger itself works

Any help would be great

Thanks

Alex

Re: Remote trigger problem 1000D

That sounds like a thing I get with a cheap radio remote. Once the shot is taken the camera appears frozen, but all I have to do is half-press again once or twice on the remote and everything is back to normal.
