It's fine with me if you guys can convince DPR to do it.  I can see where this might be frustrating for 1D owners.  But complaining here here doesn't help your cause at all.  None of us have any control over it.  Take it up with DPR.

Yes - and I bet the DPR people read the forums and if they have any sense they'll take note of what their viewers want.  In addition advertising could be targeted to that group.

I think the catagories are mixed up.

There's an entry level APS-C forum
Then there's a mid level APS-C forum
And then a entry level to pro level full frame forum.

When you ask me they either have to create entry level (xxd, xxxd) - mid level (5d / 6d / 7d) and a pro level (1dx / 1ds / 1dIV etc.) forum
or create a APS-C and Full Frame forum.

What i miss is that years ago having a full frame camera was like dating the hottest girl at school and today it's like eating a big mac at the mc drive. Canon made full frame accessible for everyone, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but i see alot of quality shifting between these forums lately. Alot of 'pro's' seemed to have noticed this as well and either left or became lurkers. Inspirational projects or lighting technique masterclasses have became a rarity on these forums lately. And i find that pretty unfortunate. But maybe that has to do with me turning grey

Give it up...

This has been pointed out to DPR for years now.

They have not listened in the past and I don't think it will be addressed in the future...I am not sure they even read inputs and ideas like this one. These forums were very much left to themselves, until the recent addition of moderators.

...of course, comment something in an article in "Connect" and a staff member pounces right over.

Wait until Canon launches a smartphone with a full-frame sensor. I'll bet it will find it's way here.

That would be GREAT!!!

The key is to have people than own those cameras to start posting in the forum.  It is very rare these days to see a post related to the 1DX...

And yet here you are!

Come on folks - all you need do is type 1D in the search box at the top of the forum ... and presto!

It couldn't be simpler!

Don't own a 1 series camera and may never (based on my experience owning a too large too heavy D3x) but that doesn't stop me from understanding that this forum mix was a travesty to 1 series owners.

My biggest fear right now is that the rumored high resolution camera will be released in a 1 series body. Discussion and information about that camera may be washed out by the hoardes of 6D and used 5D2 users buying cameras solely to join the "FF club" whatever this is.

I may have already mentioned this before , but even for 5/6 series users, the topics are littered with many off-topic subjects like lenses and monitors and so forth as if being a specific owner of a body endows one with special knowledge of monitors. With so many off-topic threads, it makes it time consuming to scan the list for relevant topics. I can't imagine having to scan this same list of topics looking for 1 series topics. Why ask the 1 series folks to do that?

Plus, there's the tendency for knuckleheads who don't own said seires feeling empowered to comment inanely on subjects they have no idea about simply because they own a camera with the same size sensor.

If DPR stubbornly insists on commingling the forum, maybe they could install filters in the members' profiles or at the forum header that would filter out everything but topics on specific bodies. This would require pretty accuarte tagging though.

And that´s exactly why we need a separate Forum.

YESSS PLEASE.

Ever since the 6D, these pages been flooded with a new lower common denominator which (for obvious reason$) now appeals to a larger demographic here. Us pro body users are pretty diluted all of the sudden.

Although photography is photography regardless of the body, I think it makes sense now that the 6D class is in the mix. Green square sporting FF bodies should have a separate forum. It's the right thing to do.

The very same discussion has been going on on the Nikon FF forum, to no avail. The vast majority of DPReview visitors own consumer and prosumer bodies, and it's very important for them that their cameras are in the same forum as the 'big' pro bodies.

Exactly.

It will be added here not because of the FF sensor.

It will added here because anything goes.

Why? You can't skim through a page of threads per day?
5

Apart from in the rush of posts that follows a new camera this forum seldom gets over one page of threads in a given 24 hour period, usually there's at least a couple of days worth on their.  I don't think I've ever had to go further than the second page for the last days posts - which is how often I usually check the forums, even after the launch of the 6D.

I'm going to file this under "First World Problems", I think.
