Re: Fuji press conference LIVE

While "twice as fast" is never a bad thing, this concerns me a bit. Because it feels to me like my X100 needs to have about 5X faster processing to feel responsive. Granted, I'm comparing it to my D700 but still, the slowness is really a challenge. And since the X100s will be processing something like 33% more pixels, a lot of that 2X speed will be negated just from that.

Re: Fuji press conference LIVE

If they keep the X20 price to $600, then I'm in!  I love the inclusion of an info panel in the optical tunnel.  Genius moves, IMO.  I'm confused about how the 2/3" Xtrans will function, though, since the EXR arrangement allowed for DR modes, the new Xtrans would appear to NOT allow this feature anymore.  Am I missing something??  It seems they switched to all-out low-ISO IQ at risk of DR and high-ISO super-sampling ability.

Re: Fuji press conference LIVE

I feel like they could still do a bit of pixel binning trickery to work on Expanded DR and Low Noise options... but I guess we'll find out?

Oh, sure, but the EXR arrangement featured 6-million photosites of slightly different sensitivity than the other 6-million photosites.  It seems they've abandoned that scheme (an arrangement that hurt the resolution of 12MP images) in favor of sheer resolution over DR/SNR flexability.  I hope they've worked on the sensor so that it is still very good in that regard, but there HAS to be some sort of trade-off...or so I think...

I doubt it but we shall see.

Also, 1299 for the X100S.  Which is the same as the original X100; hopefully this will be a hot seller and force the RAW companies to support X-trans.

55-200 coming in April

No details on any other lenses though. Seems like they will be going slower on the lens front than initially planned.

Maybe the 12mp Panasonic sensors? I'd be pretty shocked if it rivaled the current crop of m43 sensors, since they rival today's APS sensors, including the X-Trans.

I thought the X100 was always $1199 - was it $1299 for a little while?

Pure marketing. OM-D is practically up to APS-c level in noise and DR, except X-Pro1, but x20 sensor is too small. Resolution will not be sharper than conventional 12MP sensors, just as the X-pro1 has NOT more resolution than Nex 5d etc.

If however x20 is a bit better than x10, that would already be good.

Main new features concern AF and viewfinder overlay. Amazing 2 cameras. x100s has 3 stop ND filter built in. Very practical!! Why isn't that in the X-E1 or XP1???

I'm sure some lenses will be pushed back to next year, now that they've locked many customers into the bodies.
