Acer B243PWL Any Good?

Hi,

Our local CraigsList has an Acer B243PWL for $200(Firm). Any thoughts on this IPS monitor. I searched DPReview and TFT Central but did not find much.  Prices on EBay are $300 or so and so is Office Depot.

Thanks,

$200 is not that special if it is used being resold.

On sale $199.99

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback. I went to that site but when I tell it I'm in the US the listed price is $339; entering the code from the Canadian site I get "No such coupon". So, it looks like this is for Canadian customers only.

Try this ASUS monitor

I am really happy with my new ASUS monitor for $179 with free shipping from Amazon:

ASUS VS239H-P 23-Inch Full-HD LED IPS Monitor.  IPS, good reviews.  Not top of the line but such a big improvement for me.

Cnet review has some good information.

I would assume that the 50,000,000:1 contrast ratio they advertise is limited to when it is set to Theater mode - is that what you have found in use?  Sure would not want that for photo use.

I don't understand that either.  50,000:1 is a standard specification, but is not the constant working level, obviously.

I'm pretty sure it is a dynamic contrast mode that is only enabled in Theatre mode.

For image work I'd bet the Standard mode uses a typical static contrast mode and will be somewhere between 600:1 and 900:1.
