Geoff / Raymon Thanks

Geoff / Raymond

Thankyou for the very useful feedback.

Since I have used primes for most of my life (Pentax 24mm / 35mm/ 50mm / 55mm / 135mm), and despite the convenience of a zoom (and the Panny 14~45 is good) it's the bulk that gets to me.

I have taken (serious) note of your comments.

the 14mm is perfect for me

the 14mm is small & lightweight, sharp, for the rare occasion I use a wide angle lens

Re: Panasonic 14/2.5

The native kit lens with the G1 was the 14-45, not 14-42.  The 14 2.5 is much better in lower light and it is compatible with the GWC1 wide angle conversion lens.  It is a good performer and at the 35mm conversion length of 28mm, it is quite useful.  There was some discussion of not buying the 20 1.7 if you have the 14 2.5, but the 20 equals a 40mm angle of view...quite a difference from 28.  Both lenses are excellent, especially for the price.

Re: Panasonic 14/2.5

Had the lense for over six months, and yes love it for being wide. Have not been fussed on the sharpness etc, as the images I are sufficient for the clients I shoot for.
