Anyone move from a D300 to a D600 or D800?

I have had a D300(and vertical grip) since 2008. In the past two years I have also used a Canon 5D MarkII. Anyway, I was interested in moving to a full frame Nikon and was wondering what you guys thought of the AF system on the D600, has does it compare to the D300? I have read that it is much like the D7000, only 39AF points and they are grouped much closer together than the D300's 51AF points. Also how is the D800 with fast moving subjects? I do shoot some sports, mainly though it is my fast moving children these days though. Thank you for your time.
I had a D300s since 2009 and moved to D800. The D800 is nothing similar to the D7000, it is very similar to the D300s, only much better. Focus is faster and more accurate but the frame rate is lower. I always shot with the D300s in 14-bit mode, so for me the frame rate is higher now. Not that I care, since I mostly shoot in single shot mode.
I sold the D300s a week after I bought the D800 and not missing it at all.
That is what I am beginning to think also, that the D800 would be be better for me. I think that I could get used to the slower frame rate and be more selective rather than using the faster FPS of the D600.
