"Paper out" light on Epson 9600

Hello-

I've posted a few times before here but this question seems like a newbie type.

I've disassembled and cleaned the print head on my Epson 9600.  After resetting the maintenance tank and running an "initial charge", I went to run another nozzle check.

Now it seems I have the most simple of roadblocks.

The "Paper Out" light is on and it wont go off.  As much as I juggle/finagle the paper the light wont turn off.

There has got to be a hidden camera on me.  I cant believe this.

Help please? Thank you!

Why move, this is the Printer and Printing Forum --OR-- is it moved to a completely different Forum(s) other than Dpreview.  Also, what is the link for where it was moved to ?????

I don't have the 9600, but on my 7800 I have tried to put a sheet of paper in the printer while the printer was set to roll paper and have had the same situation. Check if your printer is expecting roll paper.

Thank you folks for the reply and moving to the appropriate forum section.

I found that if I initially load the paper on the right side of the printer, pretty much as far over to the right as possible, then slide the paper back, the light goes out.

Only 4 hours to figure that out.

Gotta love it.

Be well all!  Thank you kindly!

Also, for future thread viewers, I have found that by scrolling through the "paper source" button a few times and landing on "sheet" (I'm using 8.5 X 11 for the nozzle checks) I have found the "paper out" light goes out more efficiently.  Again, load the paper on the farthest over to the right and slide it over to the left.

What do you mean slide it over to the left? These Epson printers are intended to print with the right side of the paper all the way to the right. Always. The left side of the paper goes to whatever width it is.

Matt-

The paper can be inserted all the way over on the right, as far as it can go.  I then slide it back roughly two inches, to where the line denotes to insert paper (where the picture of the paper rests) on the cover for the roll paper.

it appears, on my machine, the paper sensor responds best when the paper is inserted this way.
