Olympus 75mm f/1.8: clicking sound?
1

Just got this lens and I love the focus speed and rendering. However, there is an audible click when I turn it on or off; much louder than my 14mm f/2.5 or 20mm f/1.7. Is this normal?

Hobbit on the East River.

Thanks.

Hi Marc

Yes, it's normal. (link)

And, a lens being able of catching hobbits like that must be forgiven for a little click when the camera is powered on!

That's probably the IBIS.  I have the E-M5 and 75mm as well, just with the shape of the lens (I guess) it kind of amplifies the sensor snapping to attention when it turns on, I don't think it's the lens making the noise.

It could also be the aperture clicking, if you have "reset lens" turned off (I *think* that's what it's called), where it will reset the focus etc when you turn the camera on.

Oh, you're welcome...

...isn't it nice meeting folks just using the forum as if it was a search engine?

OK, it's not very important but starting a thread without following it up is unfriendly to the forum idea in my opinion. Hello since1968. Or goodbye.
