A wedding with the NX210.
3

I recently shot a wedding with a great couple and thought I would share a few images. Everything was shot with my nx210 and the 18-55 kit lens. I also used a Yongnuo YN-560 II for my flash. The camera performed very well for the most part. I think the only issues I had were missed focus occasionally in low light and battery life. I had quite a few spare batteries thankfully and made it through the whole wedding. This was my first wedding with this camera and it didn't disappoint me. By the end of the night I was grateful for its tiny size and light weight.

Nice. Did you find that the OIS came in handy with the low-light shots? My NX1000 came with the 20-50mm lens, which lacks the OIS and I've been conteplating getting the 18-55 primarily for the OIS feature mostly for indoor, low-light shots.

Pretty nice shots for fading light conditions, but the light post has to be cloned out in the last shot.  Digital sure is nice that way!  I shot many weddings with film and never knew for sure what I had until the proofs came back.  Makes for some sleepless nights that way.  Digital you know right on the spot.  I still use film, but would never shot weddings with it now.

It's funny you mentioned that light post, I caught after I uploaded it and thought "Oh, that light post has to go!" Photoshop CS6 is amazing when it comes to do edits like that. Thanks for the heads up.

I do think the OIS is very handy and worth upgrading for. The extra focal length is nice to have as well.

You should get "Ballsy" and "Insane" award for wedding photography. Seriously I thought about NX20 for this, but shooting wedding with NX210, thats nuts.

You were main photog? If yes, how they took "hey that guy is shooting with point-n-shoot?".

Btw. pretty good pics.

They came out really well. Congratulations to the couple.

I was the second shooter for this wedding but I'm confidant that the camera is capable. I tend to have to work a bit more with because I'm using it in manual mode to work with the flash. I have done plenty of wedding with my more sizable Nikon gear and wondered if anyone would comment on the camera system I was using, no ever did. I have a theory that the small camera size may be a bit less intimidating to some subjects.

Thanks for the kind words on the photos and the testicular fortitude.

I prefer the smaller cameras for weddings too, but do regularly get comments about my Nikon gear too (back breaker lens and flash on the camera).  I prefer the small stuff.  Many people are way to hung up on gear, and perceptions mean a lot to certain people, unfortunately.  I think if you establish yourself well you can get by shooting whatever you want though as long as your results are good.  Great shots by the way

The funny thing is that the Bride or Groom might look at the shot, think it's great and not even notice the light pole, but it sure looks better without it to me.  Nice shots!  I think most of the mid to high mid-range digital cameras can do weddings, but it's just that some are much easier to do it with than others.  When I used film I only shot one wedding in 35mm and that was my very first one.  After that I moved up to a Bronica S2A and life was easier for me after that.  My film backs were preloaded and the results were far better than anything 35mm could do.  If I shot weddings now I could get by just  fine with my Canon 5D and good glass.   I have other digital cameras too, but FF from the 5D seems to look just a little less digital to me.  I suppose Sony or Nikon FF to be much the same.  Just my opinion of course.

Re: A wedding with the NX210.

You did very well with some pretty bad weather, incorporating it in your composition to great effect. Nice work.

But I think that some of the angles are not too flattering with a bride that fat, but its hard find really good angle at that point. I found the picture where she showcases here flabby upper arms while hugging the groom's neck particularly unappealing in this way.

Bryan, these are all terrific shots, but I like the sunset ones the best.  You did very well with the fill-in flash.

Re: A wedding with the NX210.

hm....on a couple of the shots, esp. ones with the sun coming through, at ISO 400, i was surprised at the amount of noise (color noise specifically) on the husband's black suit jacket.

i wonder if the camera captured the light rays' spectrum/multi-colored light, and that exacerbated the color noise....but it looks more like noise than light rays, which is weird for ISO400.

also, one of the horizons wasn't straight, i think.

overall though, nice photos! a shame the weather couldn't be more upbeat, but they look happy regardless

I think the OP mentioned that some of the photos were pushed.
