Finally got a OLD WB2000 =) Looking for a main cam next !!! some advice from the pros ?!

Well Hi there !!!

I am semi new, been lurking around and learning about the tricks and tips about cams.

Short intro I owned some crappy point and shoots, then stepped up to a NEX-5, with which i learned entry level picture taking and video. But due to priorities I had to let it go ...

On our last trip. My girl managed to pick me a SAMSUNG WB2000 Yes its old but I am loving it. It was the cam I wanted before I got the NEX-5 ... given its not as good as the NEX-5. But its not always the cam that makes awesome pics its how u take em ... to a point LOL

But its a nice point and shoot with a lot of manual options +Raw I am Enjoying it !!! Going to dissect its Firmware next Muahahahha

Now that i am back stable we can afford some extra luxuries

Looking for a decent Main Cam for taking entry level good images at fast shutter speeds and has great ability to shoot in bad lighting.

Also i need it to be able to do at least 720 at 60fps in video.

All that with the ability to change lenses.

I have looked at the NX1000 and it didn't appeal me much, and it felt cheap compared to the NEX-5. I heard alot of good on the NX20 but no one around here carries it for me to play with ... And then i saw the NX210 that was way out of my budget.

I like the NX200 best but again it is a bit pricey for me...

Are there any of the older cams that samsung makes that are advisable to get or go with another brand ??

Hi Germanese! I also had a WB2000 and was quite happy with it. But then I bought the SONY RX100 the very best pocket camera. Yes it is expensive but the IQ is fantastic and I use it as my unique travel companion.

I saw that RX100 thought about it. But the price prevented me from pulling the trigger.

Also i think thats a fixed lens ?
If so how far can it zoom ? Similar to a Nex-5 18-55mm lense or more ?

Talking of which i saw the NEX series expanded their lenses O.o
But from my understanding i can use the NX200 with other lenses or do i need an adaptor?

The lens offers a zoom range equivalent to 28-100 on a 35mm film camera. But you find a "clear image zoom" which can double the reach of your zoom lens from 100 to 200mm without much degradation to the IQ. And the lens is a fast Zeiss optics (1,8 at the wide end) nice to have when shooting in low light. This camera has more features than any other "small" camera I know, including the NEX 5n. You can bounce the flash, add the Richard Franiec grip, add filters and macro lens with the clever magnetic adapter from Carry Speed, etc.

I've sold all my other heavy stuff (DSLR with lenses) and I'm absolutely happy with my RX100 as unique photographic tool. Today it's really the best P&S on the planet!
