Weekend Pix for the week ending November 16th to 18th, 2012.

Here we are Sigma shooters another week come a gone, and it is time to display your photos for this week.   As usual all Sigma cameras and lenses are welcome.  Please try to limit your posts to 3 images and also give you post a title so that comments can be properly directed.  By all means go out and shoot some photos this weekend and have fun ;O)>.

PS.  Could some please post this thread next week as I will be out of town and will not have access to a computer.  thanks ljd

Last gasps of Autumn

Shot with SD1 and 18-250mm F3.5-6.3 DC Macro OS HSM.  SD1 in medium-resolution Raw mode, processed in SPP, then cropped, downsized, and further processed in Photoshop Elements 9.

These might make nice background screens.

I like the light.

Shook off the dust from the SD14 and took it along with the SD1M for a few shots. I found the SD14 a joy to use; fast (relatively), great IQ and, owing to the smaller size of the RAWs, really refreshing to control in SPP. It was so great that I'm thinking of switching back to the SD14 for a while and leaving the SD1M in temporary retirement.

SD14 + 30mm f1.4

SD1M + 10-20mm

SD1M + 10-20mm

Have a great week!

Angel Oak Tree

This is a 300-400 year old tree in the Charleston SC area.

As the branches stretch all the way out and touch the ground, it feels like the tree is reaching out at you.

These are SD9, with Sigma 10-20mm

oh - first image is probably 15-30mm, not 10-20.

I hear you!  My SD15 remains a treat.  My SD1 is a little more like work, but I am continuing to try to like it better.... mixed reviews.

Re: Angel Oak Tree

Just superb!  The decision to depict this in black-and-white was a good one.

B&W today...

Re: Angel Oak Tree

Thanks Tom. It works well in color when it's spring as well - there are a lot of images of it, but often the photographers use over-saturation to make the green stand out. The leaves are actually a very dark green. For this day, the sky was overcast, and not too beautiful, so B&W to focus on the pattern was really nice.

Hike onto the Wendelstein

I haven't posted images for a while so I hope it is okay that this post contains five of them.

They were developed on my laptop which has not the best display so colors might be off (probably a yellow cast).

The third image was shot against the sun so I exposed it in such a way that the sky does not clip - which means that I had to push the shadow a lot. The colors suffer a lot due to this... I am not sure whether I should just discard the colors and convert it to grayscale.

Cheers

Joerg
