K5IIs/DA 12-24: Long Winter Ahead in Edmonton, Canada!
1

This is not a comparison of the K5IIs vs K5 or the K30.  I sold my K5 to get the K5IIs but have not made any direct comparisons to the K30, which is a great cam.  The K5IIs seems slightly sharper out of the camera but lets wait for the detailed reviews to quantify.

This is a sunrise from Edmonton, Canada taken wide open (f4) on the DA 12-24..  We have had 30-40 cm of snow in the past week and it was -10 deg when this shot was taken.  It looks like a long winter.

To be honest, the image size does not do that sensor any justice but it is a great picture!

It is not meant to be a pixel peeping excercise.

Edmonton, the Klondike gold rush...the universe of Jack London, wonderful and terrible. Dale, What a beautiful journey through time and space, in the memory, too, with this magic name, Edmonton. : The Call of the Wild.

People can't just appreciate a good picture here anymore. Your job is to test the sensor. Testing first, picture taking second.

Nice shot - framing, color, perspective, etc. - it tells us about the coming winter.  I was last in Edmonton around 1975 in mid-winter when there was a Chinook.  We'd come from Regina where it was -40F and Edmonton was 60F - 100 degree difference in one day's drive!

Congrats on the new camera!

Lucky you have some snow, it was around 18C here in Montreal today but it should get colder during the days to come.

I like the perspective you got on that shot!

And I thought it was cold here today. Your shot is a story that one can almost feel.

Thanks for sharing.
