King's Cross St Pancras with my E-M5
1

WRT the "let's split the forum thread because everyone posts Oly threads", be calm Panny owners, it could equally have well been a G5 I had in my bag the day I took these...

A week or two back my train was diverted to King’s Cross Station in the morning due to a problem on the Moorgate line I get to work. The queue for the tube was horrendous, so I decided to spend 10 minutes with my E-M5 rather than attempting to join the crush.

Other samples:

E-M5, 9-18mm and 75mm (Exif info on my flickr photostream, with apologies that flickr strips it from photos...)

Wonderful geometric theme and very well done compositions. Nice indeed.

Cheers both - I quite liked the micro detail geometric/big picture organic (like a giant space age mushroom) look of the new station extension and it made for a great subject with the morning crowds milling around.

Mind you, I'm probably prejudiced in favour of the new extension/roof by the fact nothing could look worse than the 1972 extension to the front of the station that will be torn down over the next year (see the picture of the front of the station from my blog if you don't know what I mean)...

I haven't been to St Pancras yet, but had to get to Kings Cross early one morning recently. I'd rented the 7-14 for a few days so was glad to be at the station early enough to take a few pics from the upper gallery. The purple lighting was extraordinary!

Kings Cross roof, G3, 7-14 mm

I kept the lens for a few days hoping to shoot some landscapes in Yorkshire, but that didn't happen. Also wanted to try it with architecture, and while I found landscape format images really good, portrait ones with a fairly close foreground didn't. So my lust for this lens has been quenched for a while, and I have gone back to my Samyang Fisheye for this, putting up with distortion of a different degree.

Re: King's Cross St Pancras with my E-M5

Wow! Lovely shot.

Would have loved to have my 7-14 with me but I bought a second hand 9-18 as my carry everywhere UWA because its so small and light I never resent it being in my work bag. As long as you stop it down to F5.6 to 7.1 it's fine in the corners.

Mind you, pictures like this remind me why I love the 7-14mm so much. Discounting the flare it must be one of the best UWA for any system (certainly lives with the zeiss UWA I had for my A900).
