Internal Battery (600D)
1

This might be a stupid question and it isn't a big issue and my world doesn't end to it. The question is does anyone know what kind of intenal battery 600D uses?

Last week I noticed that my 600D doesn't want to keep the time and date after I change the the external battery (LP-E8). So obviously the internal battery is drained. When I look inside the battery chamber I can see a glimpse of a small coin battery. The internal battery is sealed behind a small plastic cover. But I can't tell what type of battery is in question. I could brake the seal and look it for myself, but it's always better to ask first.

I could gladly change the internal battery myself (warranty will be void) without the fuzz with warranty service and one-two weeks of frustrating waiting time. I have had my cam almost one year and the warranty ends next month.

Best regards
Carnaga

There is no replaceable battery for the date  in your camera. Just make sure that after you set the date and time that you press "set" so that the time and date are retained.

That's a rechargeable battery, not a standard button battery. It's not likely to be something you can buy from anyone except Canon. So I suggest that you call Canon's parts department and ask them.

The interface in the camera is simple. To save date/time settings you select [OK] to cancel the procedure you select [CANCEL]. And I've 100% sure I've selected [OK] every time to save the new Date/Time settings.

I think I will use the warranty service to fix the problem... even if I have to wait couple weeks

Thank you for your respond!

That explains a lot. And I'm glad I did ask about this before doing something stupid.

Tomorrow I'm going to deliver my cam to our local store for canon warranty service.

Thank  you so much for your respond!

Re: Internal Battery (600D)

I just sent my camera to the canon warranty service. I also talked with them about the warranty. They told me that warranty will be available for next year -- till the end of 2013, thought it's limited only to manufacturing defects. So when the original warranty will be void it'll be more harder to get the cam to the warranty service if it fails.

I'll report again after week or two when it comes back...

2020_1019_0910:

Hello, just browsed through the forum looking for people who facing

the problem as:

1. withdrawn the camera battery and charge the camera battery with the ext. charger

2. when the battery is fully charged, and re-slot in the battery into the

camera; and there comes the fuzzy steps: to newly enter the time and date. And this will happen as long as whenever the battery is withdrawn!

3. i believe the regular camera has a date and time memory and is en-powered by a small BUTTON CELL.

QUESTION: DOES THE CANON 600D HAS THIS MEMORY VAULT?

Most modern cameras do not have a battery to retain settings they have a super-capacitor which is integrated into the circuitry and not replaceable.
