Does Nikon Flashes do TTL on Xpro 1?
No. Only A mode works.
so does it have to be on manual the nikon flash? Any kind of automation or ttl?
Only thing that works with X-Pro1 and the X100 and Nikon speedlights is full manual. At least it's that way with my SB-600, 900 and 910s. Only the Fujifilm units will get TTL. However, curiously enough some of the Canon extension cords (OC-3) have the same pinout as the Fujifilm units, thus giving TTL.
I had used SB600 on the XPro1. Works in full manual mode with a caveat. When you snap a shot while the flash is in sleep mode, the flash does not fire. So you have to "wake" it up before the shot.
A related question: has anyone been able to use the Canon 580II flash in Auto (thyristor) mode with XPro-1. I am worried what the similar pinout configuration between Canon and Fuji would do to the camera when the wrong brand flash is mounted. Do you need to use a dumb shoe to make it work?
