D600 : video problem "Recording interrupted - please wait"

Hi all !

I have a Nikon D600 and I'm very happy with it !!
But, I've had a problem several times with video recording.

Sometimes, video recording stops and displays the following message : "Recording interrupted - please wait". I then have to wait for around 20sec until I can get the control back (unless I shut the D600 down).

After this, I get a fully functional video mode after the message got away. However, if I shut down the D600, and put it ON again, I'll get the problem again.

I think I only encountered the problem so far in A mode (aperture priority) but I'm not sure.

Anyone else getting this error ?

FYI, I have brand new UHS-1/SDXC class10 Card. I do believe the card is not the problem, as I can do at least 14 RAW in burst mode without any slowdown.

I was at Nikon "Espace Photo" in Paris a week ago. It is an official Nikon place where you can find docs & get your stuff repaired.
I talk to the guys there about this problem. He said I was the first.
But having read your post before, I told him I was not alone.
He thought it might be a software problem that a new firmware might fix. I kindly ask him to report to Nikon Europe? I hope he will.

Cya,

Guillaume

NB : this is kind of X-post with a Canon post (http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/thread/3285205?page=2) but I choosed to post a new thread here as I did not see this problem discussed on Nikon forum.

NB: one other D600 owner have had the same problem.

I've had the exact same problem as you. Also in A mode when recording, though there's not enough evidence to say that it is a contributing factor or not.

But my experiences mirror yours exactly. New cards that work great at all times (and are fast) except for this single hiccup in movie recording mode.

ETA: my card(s) are Transcend 32GB SDHC class 10

I have exactly the same problem.

Thanks.

Re: D600 : video problem "Recording interrupted - please wait"

I have a Nikon D800 and I too have been getting EXACTLY the same message - a lot!

It definitely happened after I upgraded the firmware to version 1.10

Sometimes it'll happen 4 times in a row making it most frustrating to try and capture a clip when i have to start the shot, then move in front of the camera to record a talking head clip of myself.

It's definitely not my card, and not my settings. Plus, when it does work, it is perfect.

Come on Nikon - please acknowledge the problem and work on a fix

I found the issue! This is because your sd card doesn't have enough free space. I had around 2 gigs left on it, and it would interrupt the process after 8 seconds. After freeing 12 gigs, the problem was solved with the settings bumbed to the maximum qual. Hope that helps

That is probably not the issue as I've had the same problem 2 minutes into an empty 32 GB memory card. My card is a class 10 but I will get a better quality card and try again. Until then, I'll play safe with my GH3.

Re: D600 : video problem "Recording interrupted - please wait"

I just ran into this issue this morning on my D7000.  I use a 16 GB SanDisk Extreme Class 10, 45 MB/s write speed memory card with a little over 5.5 GB still available on the card.  The 20 minute limit on video with this camera only takes up approx 2 GB so I had plenty of space; the memory card should not have been the problem.  I was shooting with a Tamron 28-75 f/2.8 lens.  I point this out because the only other thing I was doing when the message came up was changing the zoom during or immediately before I hit the button to end my recording.  Just throwing it out there in case lens brand has something to do with it.

Re: D600 : video problem "Recording interrupted - please wait"

I had the exact same problem. It would record for somewhere around 15 seconds, then just stop. I thought it was also the write buffer being too slow. I lowered the Movie Quality option to Normal in 1080p@60fps. That seems to have solved the immediate problem so at least I can record. Next I'll try finding a disk with faster write speed to see if I can put it back on High permanently.
