Best £62 I ever spent ...

With both of my daughters using (what were) my Fuji compacts - F100fd & F200EXR - I found my self short of a zoom compact. Dug out my old Fuji F11...needed XD card & a reader (my Sony laptop has inbuilt SD card/MS reader only) ...and figured it made little sense to spend c£30 on those, when - for not much more - I could do this :

Undoubtedly the best £62 I ever spent on camera gear, this for those bothered about spec :

Miniature 'Reigate' CCD sensor (ha!)

AAx2 batt power / long-life

Tracking AF

Optical viewfinder

28mm wide f2.8 / 28-112mm equiv fr

12mp (so not overloaded)

Decent grip

Great HD video

Inbuilt useful effects

SD/SDHC

My results in the first 2 days :

Lakeland Sunset

Autumn colour

File processed in DxO FilmPack

Lakeside At Dusk

Comparison shot made in a favourite location

Inbuilt filter used on this image

Schecter PT with Suhr Aldrich bridge humbucker

So, what is it ?

Canon A1200 - since superceded by A1300, but my (brief) research led me to the less pixel-loaded 'old' model, still available in Black (my choice) or Silver. Highly recommended !

Cheers,

Nick
