Too bad this was not around in 2010

Back in 2010, I would have jumped on this.  We are getting close to 2013  and that sensor is older than my car, dog, and house.

btw, back in 2010 I was screaming for an E-6x0 replacement with a new sensor because that one did so poorly in lower light.

Typo, Olympus E5 still a good deal

That must be a typo. It's too funny. $200 more with a rebate.

The usual price is $1700US. With a $200 rebate it's $1500. Same deal here in the US. It's a good deal on Olympus' best digital camera. And those Olympus lenses, they're priceless. A bargain at twice the price.

Typo for sure.  Cheapest current Canadian price, $1299.  Cheapest price Canadian I had seen before this special was $1399.

Agree. If it is/was worth the money at $1,699, it's certainly worth it at $1,499. The sensor is old? So what? It's still the same, great sensor that took great pictures when it came out. Everyone knows that high ISO performance isn't the E-5's strong point, but ... again ... so what? There are many, many great cameras out there that don't render well at high ISOs ... the Leica M9 being just one of them. With quality fast lenses ... meaning Oly's best ... high ISO is irrelevant. I've shot indoors and out under some really demanding conditions even with my "ancient" E-420 and 25mm f/2.8 with excellent results. By the way, an even better deal is an E-5 refurb at $1299.00.

That is pretty funny.  "Now for a limited time--show us how much you love this camera by paying extra. Order now and get this strap and battery at no extra extra cost."

That is so close to what I was thinking (but much more civil) that I can only say, well said.  Rich
