Re: Dynax 5D link with computer

While Windows XP automatically detected the KM5D and KM7D when connected via USB so that Windows Explorer accessed the card, I remember people talking here how that wasn't the case with Vista. I certainly couldn't get them to connect with my Vista computer. I haven't tried it with Windows  yet.
Unless some of the upload programs that come with picture editing programs accomplish this with Windows 7(or some other program has been written to achieve it), you may be stuck with having to use a  compact flash card reader (which can be gotten pretty cheap on Ebay).

Renato

A card reader is certainly the best solution, anyway! You are right.

I connected my 5D to a Win7 64bit laptop just now. It is the first such USB connection in years as I prefer to pull the 4GB CD card and insert it in a faster card reader. But the connection worked and the files would be importable using the Sony PlayMemories Home browser/editor that was bundled with the Sony A57 camera.

Windows did download a driver for the KM 5D initially, and I did move the USB cord to a different USB 2.0 port known to be more reliable on certain older devices. Best option is to buy a new 50 in 1 card reader that is at least USB 2.0 compatible. S...L...O...W.

I bought a single compact flash card reader - it looked like a USB stick with a slot in the side for the CF. It's the most compact and portable one I've seen, and it was only a few dollars from Hong Kong.
