Applied the same settings for all three. Tried to make a good compromise between detail, color detail and noise.

Thanks for posting.

Cool. Try applying no luminance noise reduction and only get rid of the colour noise. This is what I do. Sometimes the grain can look good.

3200 ISO, no sharpening and no luminance noise reduction

I opened these with Photoshop and Lightroom, and I have to say that I am impressed with the results. Not only is luminance and croma noise well controlled. The noise pattern is pleasing and the amount of detail at high ISO is amazing! So this led me to preorder the A99.

Indeed. I already pre-ordered, but seeing that ISO 6400 can make clean, usable shots is exactly what I was hoping/expecting to get. (In fact, if I weren't getting a huge upgrade in high-ISO performance compared to my crop-sensor camera, I would cancel my pre-order. This is what going full frame is all about.)

These look great!  Finally Sony produces a camera with higher ISO capabilities. 24 MP in FF had to be a winner.  Time to dump my 24 MP APS noise machine!!

I just got my Lightroom updated, and downloaded some of these myself.

The 1600 ISO doesn't fall into what I'd call "high ISO" at all. With a modest amount of noise reduction if looks as detailed as what I'd expect at 100 ISO from a 12 or 16 MP camera.

The 25600 ISO has some noise, but still cleans up very nicely, and looks acceptable for most everyday photography. If I'm at a party, I'd go all the way to 25600 any time it allowed me to use my choice of apertures or shutter speeds.

Wow. Now all I need to do is wait for my a99 to arrive...

Thanks for sharing.

Do is it 100% crops? If yes, it's impressive.

But you suggest you PP your photos with some enhancement... So, what about the untouched originals .raw shots?

Btw, do you have the same shots with the in-camera .jpg ?

Kind Regards,

Re: A99-1600-3200-6400 raw with LR4 crops

I just looked at these in LR4 and I'm not convinced it's worth an upgrade for me yet.

I've been doing a lot of stock photography and noise is my main reason for rejections.  In this group of RAW files I don't think I would get anything above ISO 800 accepted by Shutterstock. Even with the NR turned up to 80, the shadow area in the lower right of the frame doesn't clean up very well.

This is still about 2 stops better than the A77 though as I never shoot anything over 200 on the A77 for stock.

So what camera would be needed to be accepted on Shutterstock with shots above iso 200?
