Possible problem with Canon SX40 HS

I've noticed that there is a very slight clunk noise when I half press the shutter button to take a picture. It sounds like  it's coming from the lens barrel. Usually I hear it more when I zoom past a certain optical range. I was wondering if this is normal for this type of camera? Thanks, James

Don't worry. I also was concerned with these 'clicks' when received my SX40 eight months ago. Other users soothed me about them. I am quite pleased with the camera.

Thanks I'm really starting to feel better now that I've read some of the comments. So I can deal with the clunking but I have another question regarding the lens. Have you or anyone noticed that when zooming in "full telephoto", that the lens seems to shift in the barrel slightly? This could also be the effect of autofocus when I half press the shutter button. It doesn't appear to have any effect on image quality and edge to edge sharpness appears intact. I guess I can't help but think I caused some damage, but maybe I'm worrying for nothing..

Regards,

James
