Re: Meadow Flower

Hi,

My favorite is the first one. DOF works better on that one ... for me at least Nice PP with pleasant colors.
Well done

Two very different Dogwood trees

What I consider as a normal dogwood with fruit.

And the unusual one from outside my window at the office.

Re: Flower, Foliage & Fungi thread for October 2012

Here is a couple from the Cape Cod seashore. Taken on a dark cloudy afternoon with my 7D and a 60 mm macro, wide open @f2.8, Hand held mind you & no flash. Depth of field is a bit shallow. But I like the colors.

Spring!

Spring is in full swing in the good old Southern Hemisphere. Here in Australia it's really warming up, the cicadas have started up and the summer migrants are arriving.

I spent the past weekend visiting Canberra for the popular Floriade spring festival. The flowers were amazing in brilliant midday sunshine. It was a perfect time to wheel out one of my favourite lenses, the 100 f/2.8L IS macro.

Floriade 2012, Canberra, Australia. Canon 5D Mark II and EF100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM lens.

Re: Bee with Yummy Flower

Wow, 400 f/5.6 with extension tube, nice! I've thought about this combo for shooting dragonflies but I am reluctant to try with its lack of IS. I normally try to move in real slowly with the 100mm macro but it's hit and miss.

Re: Bee with Yummy Flower

Hartz,

I have used the 400mm f/5.6 with a 25mm extension tube for dragonflies with good results. I do not have the 100mm L macro yet, so I can't give you a comparison. The 100mm L macro is on my wish list for my next lens purchase.
