I was shooting bugs on the goldenrod when I caught a commotion out of the corner of my eye.
A wasp was cutting loose a garden orb spider's catch. The spider, already missing part of one leg, retreated and let the wasp get on with it.
The wasp cut loose the catch, perhaps a moth, and carried it off.
A rare (and presumably fairly brief) opportunity - and you made great use of it. Excellent execution (the extent and placement of the dof coverage over both subjects is wonderful), to produce terrific images, made all the better for knowing the story behind them. Superb.
Thanks fulvio and gardenersassistant.
I have seen wasps catch flies before, but never seen them steal a spider's catch until now.
Maybe the wasp is rescuing his friend?
He probably got the idea from the hobbit
