My 3600Hs(D) wont power on should I fix or replace

I haven't used my 3600hs(D) in a while.
I stores it without batteries.
I have tried 2 sets f alkaline batteries(inserted as per the manual),
and it wont power on.

Is it worth trying to fix or can somebody recommend a cheap flash with similar performance (camera is A33)?

I have had the flash for a long time, started using it with a Minolta A2.

I checked your profile and I think your priorities lie with Panasonic, but that is fine... I would not invest too much money, but you could try to make sure the contact points in the 3600 are really clean...you can use some electrical contact cleaner.. if you see any corrosion you might want to get a emery stick, like those used to manicure fingernails.. and sand the contacts until they are clean. As far as getting a New flash, rather than offering opinion, why not tell us what you are willing to spend on a New flash... the other suggestion would be going to KEH and try to buy a used one..

If you can fix it for under $70, fix it. Otherwise? Get a good used one for no more than $80 including shipping.

look up capacitor reforming.

Basically, put freshly charged batteries and turn it on for at least 10 minutes. That should bring it back to life if it is not dead.

The contacts are in good shape,
It was a nice flash when used with the Minolta A2.

Used ones are cheap; just check ebay.

I think that I paid about $65 for one about 3 or 4 years ago, and bought the Sony version 3 years ago at Best Buy for $90 (demo unit). My original one, also bought used, was for an A2. All still work fine and are compatible with my newer cameras. Good units.
