Nokia 808 PV in the studio -- vs. Nikon D800E!

I did a test drive of the Nokia 808 Pureview in the studio, versus a Nikon D800E!

The 808 delivers great results and resolution, cf. this image:

; for the full resolution image.

It is a bit tricky to use the 808 in the studio with studio flashes and everything. But quite feasible. You find the full Making Of here:

The results of the 808 are great. So great that one may think it can beat its larger sisters. Well, almost. I did the same shot with the Nikon D800E too and it manages to perform even better, with really stunning detail normally only found with medium format cameras:

Note that both photos have been post-processed, so don't read too much into the color differences.

Great, thank you for sharing!

D800 is better, as it should be, but..lets not forget that we are comparing it to a smartphone...

Different ball parks

I have the D800 and Nokia 808. Different ball parks. However, there is not a camera this tiny in the world that can produce the results of the 808. A "pocket camera", that, with proper post processing, can under the right conditions, produce professional results and gallery size prints. It's a MUCH better camera than a smart phone.

Re: Different ball parks

D800 + 808 would be my choice of photo tools as well.. great combo.

I find the 808 to be a very good smartphone, at least for my needs..

Re: Nokia 808 PV in the studio -- vs. Nikon D800E!

The photographs taken by Nokia 808 are a bit oversaturated (on my screen) - and it is done in post processing I guess, because as seen in other 808 test, normaly the colors are in tact. Or the colors where set to oversaturated in the camera settings, so we do not have the exact results. IMHO
