WB150F - my 'user comments'

This is an amazing camera with amazing glass.

I shot two outdoor concerts via wifi wth the camera on a 12 foot painter's pole.

Nobody knew what I was doing from my seat.

The Jpeg images amaze me and were very workable in PP.

I learned how to get my Eye-fi card to work in my WB150F.
This enables immediate transfer while shooting.

Dialed Wifi off-load, email, etc. works very well. I am sure a future update will bring some stune-up to the wifi workflow.

The camera shoots fast compared to any compact I have ever owned.

The fill flash syncs with my SB800 Fantastic - just the camera and flash, no special triggers!

If Samsung ever updates the firmware (after reading this report) I will not update to avoid risking losing the above working features).

I have two spare batteries, no problems using wifi remote viewer.

This camera puts out 14MP pixel Jpegs ( average 3-5MP files) with great detail and color and white balance.

At a lake yesterday with the water and sun to our backs I took an A priority shot with and without fill. Our faces were lit up with fill just perfectly with the small built-in flash. Amazing.

The camera is now always with me in a little waist bag.

I now carry my SB800 on my belt right next to it along with my soon to be replaced (with the EX2F) TL500 (EX1) in the same belt bag.

The detail at 24mm is jaw dropping.

I am not a brand loyalist and my spending my money on this camera does not affect my opinions about this camera. It is simply amazing.

This is a Captured Moments camera, not a Pixel Peepers camera.

Video and sound is very good, and wifi transfer to my tablet quick and flawless,
also uploads video to my site without any video conversion.

I am very happy with all of this.

The WB150F in now a new member in my photojournalism gear bag.

Hope you find my 'users review' of interest and useful.

WB150F - Focusing and Audio for musicians in small clubs?

You have me interested in this camera's video and audio, and you also own the EX1 I think.

Question:

What can you tell me about your experiences with these, and which, WB or Ex, do you think will give best sound/focusing on moving musicians?

Thanks, Elliott

I take videos of musicians in small clubs, and both the focus hunting and audio are my concerns, neither are typically properly reviewed in camera forums. (please, not starting an argument, I just have not found good answers)

The audio needs not to get overloaded and turn to mush when the volume gets up there, and the volume difference between front, sides, rear is important.

The video needs to be able to handle the musicians moving back and around from the mic, and when moving the view over to another band member several feet back, etc, without constantly focus hunting. (unfortunately, oly xz1 has terrible focus hunting, had to return it)

Low light is also an issue, I presume EX2 will be best for that, but WB zoom is strong advantage also.

I am shooting a concert tonight.
I will try the WB as far as audio is concerned and let you know.

An external mic is always the best for any camera.

When I get my EX2F i will try to use my present external mic, if it won't work then I will buy Samsung's NX mic which will be compatible.

I did a short hand held test of my WB150Fwith a zoom in & out, AF as per any other small camera shooting video.
OIS is very good considering hand held.
The sound is fantastic with the omni directional speakers of the band.
No zoom noise due to the bands sound (I guess)
I just need a place to post it.

Next time I will use a tripod and properly zoom in & out to give the AF a fair test.

Overall fantastic IMHO, for such a small camera.
