Need recommendation for monopod
What are application are you using the monopod for Andy?
My wife has a walking stick with a threaded mount on the top that you can screw into a camera...very conveneint for quick monopod...in monopod mode I assume you don't need any ballhead-type flexibility...
I use a Manfrotto 679b. Very cheap, light but sturdy. Simple screw-in head. Don't need a ballhead as there are plenty of them on this forum!
Adjusts height instantly. No clamps to flip open or loosen. Superb for sports. Alas, a bit more than $100.
I looked at a lot of monopods with feet as I wanted that kind of stability. Finally found a great solution. Perhaps more than you'd want to spend, but take a look at this Feisol model:
Very light and stable. I use it in may situations where I used to use a tripod. Even use it with a video head attached to support our Canon XH-A1 video camera.
Looking for a monopod to go with 5D2 . Any recommendation? I'd prefer to spend less than $100.
And also, a viewfind on LCD for shooting film.
I found a rifle shooters' support monopod for $10 at Walmart. It has a v-slot for a rifle. My camera fits in well. It contracts to about 24 inches for packing in a suitcase for travel. Light-weight, cheap, and it works. Good luck finding what works for you.
I traveled for three weeks across Provence and Languedoc, France, and down to through Girona and Barcelona, Spain, with this setup. It is a sturdy, easy to use monopod that does not cost that much, > $80.
