Old flashgun n GX10?

I have an old flash from film days. It is Pentax compatible, it does flash when the shutter is released.

I am interested in any help to determine if it synch's properly and how to test at what shutter speed and and what I should be looking for if it is correct.

It is a Miranda, Multi-dedicated 700CD and has auto and manual modes.
I have the manual but it does not mean a lot.
Any advice please?

I also have a GX10 and use some legacy flash devices on it.

Do so with some caution - the main one being that it is recommended you keep the trigger voltage low. There are various stories as to the point at which the trigger voltage may harm the Pentax K10D (and thus GX10), however a good guide of low voltage systems is here:

You will only be able to use such flash systems in Manual exposure mode, but if you are used to older 35mm Flash systems this shouldn't be a problem. I particularly like my old Chinon S-250 Zoom (Auto-Thyrister) flash which is very accurate and didn't cost me anything.

However - as I said - a word of caution. A similar flash reported with a 11V trigger voltage managed to fry the Flash circuit on my Samsung NX100.

Thank you for the warning and the list. Mine is not listed and I don't know the voltage required or limit on the GX10.
I shall have to research further.

For the benefit of anybody else with the Miranda Flash and perhaps other old ones.

Whilst the voltage measured 8.5 and appeared to be OK it should be noted that the polarity is reversed and the collar contact is in fact the +ve.

Keep that in mind when getting excited that your flash gun has a low enough voltage.
I will add that it does actually work.

As you can now tell, I got excited.
