Planking hawk - FZ150

Juvenile sharp-shinned hawk asked me to take its picture for its Facebook page.

You nailed him well, Tony.. right on the planks .. (kidding, of course!) ..love the delicate light, colors ("face" is excellent) and fine detail and textures of bird's plumage.. well captured and processed..

Thanks for sharing,

He looks remarkably relaxed being so close to a dwelling. Is he looking about trying to find a reason to activate, I wonder? Nice capture.

Great shot TK. Glad this beautiful bird was drying its feathers (?) and you were quick enough to get the shot.

Some info about the hawks and some more pictures

First off, thanks for all the kind comments.

According to our neighbor, there are five of these juvenile hawks. They like to hang out on this fence, sunning themselves and practicing looking hawk-like. They all seem to like to plank. This morning there were three on the fence.

An example of extreme planking.

Posing for the camera.

Showing off my feathers.
