Quick question on a D3100....

I noticed when using the AF there is a "clicking" sound from the camera when it first achieves focus, then again when I let my finger off the shutter release. Is that "normal"? or an i just paranoid???

Thanks

Nikon D3100

The VR in the lens

If you're talking about what I think you are that's the VR in the lens kicking in and then cancelling when you take your finger off the shutter ie. it knows you're not taking a pic

Yep, perfectly normal, nothing to worry about.

Take a look at this for just about everything you could possibly want to know on VR:
