600d thumbwheel not working.

In the last two weeks I had my thumbwheel not respond in Tv or Av mode twice. After getting home from the races I attended I tried it and it worked both times. I left the camera on at home for over three hrs last night thinking maybe it was getting warm and causing the problem. So far it has been working perfectly. Has anyone else had this happen?

This is typically the result of inadvertently locking the wheel, as described on p. 42 of the 60D manual.

Lemming51 - Your advice is spot on for the 60D. However, the title of this thread states that the camera in question is a 600D, which does not have a "Thumbwheel", only the Main Dial and Cross Keys, so this post is a little confusing as to what is the camera and what is the problem?

YSrcflyer - Which camera do you have: 60D or 600D? Did you mean to say that the problem is with the "Main Dial" on a 600D?

Sorry, yes the main dial, right next to the shutter button on an 600d/t3i.

Any chance there is a grip on the camera?
If so, maybe the main dial on the grip is not in possision(between spots).
Happens to my 550d/t2i more than enough times.

Can't say I've had this problem, but - occasionally my T3i becomes unresponsive, like something's wrong, etc.  The last time it did this I was swapping lenses out in the field.  I thought it had died after that.  Took the battery out for a minute and everything was ok at that point??  My T2i and T4i don't seem to have that issue.

I have found out if I remove the battery for a few minutes and then reinsert it, the wheel will start working again. Have been doing this since the first post-seems like the software "locks up"? Have been able to regain use every time after removing battery for a couple of minutes.

Maybe the T3i has some 'buggy' software.  My T2i and T4i have not really become unresponsive like the T3i.
