With my a77, it's either the 16-50 or the 70-400G. Both get about equal use. My wife is a little ticked that she bought me the 70-200G last year and it only gets used indoors (she doesn't understand)

Tammy 17-50, but it "lives" on the edge.

The Beercan and the 8mm are always in the bag.

Hello, I was checking out your photos from your link and curious if the 70-200 was the lens you had on for the great lakes bodybuilding shoot? That's the 2.8?

CZ 24-70 on my A-900.
CZ 16-80 on my A-700.
Used to be the SAL 18-250 on my A580.(sold yesterday)
A-100 shares the CZ-16-80 and the SAL 18-250.
Haven't tested the Sigma 50-150 enough to see where it will land!

Sort of on topic ...

to give the Beercan a life, I'm looking for a second body.
I'm still lurking trying to score one with the 16mp sensor.
Just lately I'm thinking of waiting for the @57 to become second hand.

However, I figure 10mp such as in the @100
might/would be "enough" for a Beercan, given the DOF of a tele.

What is your opinion of the 10/14mp Sony's compared to the 16's
for Beercan use ?

Both of my Alphas wear the Sony 18-250. The lens just covers the range i need for landscape/outdoor photography. I have to swap the lens from one to the other, but that's my primary lens.

A77 - General Use - 18-250. If I'm expecting to be inside then 16-50.

a850 70-400g.

If it is on, it takes less time to remove from camera bag and mount.

18-250 Tamron to walk around.

50mm 1.4 Sony for everything else.

The other lenses see the body very very rarely.

Sigma 28-105mm, f/2.8-4. A very old lens pre-dating digital and meant for Minolta, but it's a great lens.

I used the Beercan on my A-100 (10mp) and now use it on my A-77 (25mp). It is an amazing lens on both. However, the AF on the A-77 and the sharpness of the Beercan are a hard combo to beat. My 60-70% crops still look great. Here's one from last week.

Re: Which lens "lives" on your Alpha?

My A700 has 18-250 Sony
A580 has 28-300 Tamron
A77 has 18-250 HSM OS Sigma

They all work very well for me. I keep the Sigma HSM 120-400mm ready for birding.

CZ16-80

The rare times I take it off and replace it with a prime lens, it's not long before I'm back to the 16-80. For my shooting, it's as good or better than most primes and I still have the convenience of the zoom.
