NX100 Classic Monochrome

Does anyone know if It is possible to simulate colored filters (Yellow, orange, red, green, etc) in the NX Classic style?

When in the Picture Wizard, the Classic (B&W) style menu shows an slider for selecting a color also an slider for selecting the saturation (-4 to +4) ; however I am not seeing any significant changes in the images (in the screen) when playing with those sliders!

I know if I want better monochromes the wise way is to develop the RAWs in LR for example. But I dont want pp at all. Any ideas are welcome.

Some recent B&W streetshots (NX100 with Sony 50mm f1.4, Helios 44M6 58mm f2, etc) in my photoblog http://www.sergiodelucena.com/blog

Regards!

Re: NX100 Classic Monochrome

I am not aware that it is possible to simulate BW filters in picture wizard, so if you do not want postprocessing you could try and put real filters on your lens when shooting BW. If I use the BW option of picture wizard I usually increase the contrast setting to +1 or +2.

I wish Samsung cameras had the BW filter options of Pentax DSLRs.....

Re: NX100 Classic Monochrome

Thanks Thomas!

I already bought some real filters from ebayers (red, orange, yellow and green); just waiting the delivery.

Well, NX instructions manual does not help with that Color and Saturation settings in the Classic (B&W) mode. When I have the time I will make some test shots of colored pencils to see the results for several color/saturation combinations. Also, I will check it out if the WB affects the B&W image.

Re: NX100 Classic Monochrome

I've never been able to figure out the black and white setting on my NX100. It appears it is not at all customizable, despite being able to move the colour slider at the top. I've also never been able to figure out a custom setting either. It's the one are where the camera falls short compared to the competition. I simply process from Raw when I want black and white from my NX100.
