Love my 200/4 Micro
1

I have had this already a few years (bought it second hand) but I still love this. Nowadays it seems to be the lens to take with when I'm looking forward of any kind of close up work, like these cherry blossoms (it's their prime time here in Southern Finland).

I love the bokeh, I love the color rendition, I just love... And I definitely love the build.

I just recently got myself a copy of the lens. I share your enthusiasm. Great lens.

Great set, thanks for sharing ... I am very interested in this lens ... the working distance should be great for insects.

I'm not too keen on the highlights in the BG on many of these.

It's one of my favourite lenses too. Using AF, it has a tendency to hunt, though. But most macro shots are done using MF anyway. If the focus point has a lot of contrast, the AF is pretty fast in nailing it.

Re: Love my 200/4 Micro

With D800 it hunts a lot less (compared to D700). But then again: real macro is done on MF, close-ups I manage on AF.

Well lets just start with the first one. There is a big white blob in the centre of the frame and the two leaves near the bottom centre have large areas of bright white too. These catch my eye more than anything else in the shot.

Re: Love my 200/4 Micro

Ok. Probably it is the photgrapher to blame, not the lens. In my monitor the "white blob in center" is not completely white but you may be right: I probably should've edited it a bit.

I do still like how this renders the oof-areas: very creamy and very peaceful.

The OP is right. The "white blob" is not to be blamed on the lens but the photographer. The lens is fantastic when you know its limitations.

I'm sure it is. I'm not sure the samples given in evidence bore that out.

Nice shots. Lens looks very sharp and has a better working distance than my 105 though I much prefer the bokeh of the VR lens:

Re: Love my 200/4 Micro Lovely

All are lovely, nice work, but that second one, frosting.... magical!!! Wonderful colors and rendition.

What I am realising and you pointed out above, is that color rendition, etc, is important too, rather than just the sharpness etc that most lens tests seem to focus on.

Thanks for sharing those  lovely images.
