Anyone compared the 5D3 to the D800 yet, anyone?

Occurred to me that the one thing this site needs is some more folk comparing these cameras.

I'm surprised more people have'nt drawn the comparison yet.

There simply is'nt enough talk of these two cameras on DPR at the moment.

It's like we are in some kind of FF comparison vacuum.

It's uncanny.

I agree

Of the little that's out there, it's limited to 100% crops. You can't tell ANYTHING about a photo without looking at at least a 200% crop. I need to stand on top of the empire state building at night and take a picture of a homeless man wearing black pants standing on the George Washington Bridge, then crop it down and pull noiseless shadow detail of the urine and booze stains on his crotch, and then blow it up to a 7 foot wide print and hang it on the side of my house. If you can't do that with your camera, then your camera sucks and there are no questions about it.

I'll be damned. That was you up there with the Nikon?

Re: I agree

Can Canon produce such a clean sharp image at iso 6400 that looks like iso 200

What i seen so far from Canon photos not as sharp at iso 6400 ..WHY..because Canon but in strong AA filter to cover up the noise issue as well the images will not be as sharp ..i suppose in portaits its a good things however

...it is kind of weird that no one's comparing the pros and cons of these two cameras.

Yep, we don't have enough comparisons. I wonder if there is any diffrence in dynamic range?

Re: I agree

If an image from my 30D looked that bad, I'd beat it to pieces with the golf clubs.

But the problem is likely with the lens.

Aren't you banned yet?

Quote from the forum rules:

"Deliberately and repeatedly bashing the same brand, product or company will get you banned. If you have a complaint or comment to make then make it once and make sure you have facts to support it. "

Seems fit for your case of obsession.

BTW, nice picture, it is indeed on par with an ISO 200 shot...from a good P&S!

What are 5D3 and D800? New cameras?

I did not know that! Great news!

Give it time, I am sure that someone will pick it up and do a few tests shots of his black cat & couch at ISO 25000...

Every other thread on Canon Forums is about 5DIII vs D800

You need to check your thread filter settings. We have more comparisons then we need.

Re: I agree

Dunno why anyone needs a sharp image when they post-process their images to death.
