SX30 SX40 Comparison shot

I've owned the SX30 since early 2011 and looked at the SX40 recently at Best Buy.

Was able to snap a quick shot from my 30 and the store 40 of flag across the store, both cameras set to auto (I didn't have much time and I thought the auto might give a quick and dirty comparison of the two).

Opened the two images in Photoshop, did no PP, snipped the images, saved that file, uploaded as you see here, 30 on left, 40 on right. Notable purple fringe difference jumps out at me.

I heard there is a CA correction built in SX40. You just proved it.

Re: SX30 SX40 Comparison shot

I had both the SX 30 & the SX 40. I bought the 40 when it was announced and used the SX 30 for a year. Comparing the two for general shooting under all conditions and - Straight out Of The Camera with no PP, - then pixel peeping- I found that there is much greater C.A. in the SX 30 than the SX 40. It is easily corrected in Lightroom, however.

Perhaps that is a result of the Digic 5 processor in the SX 40
Your mileage may vary !

I often wonder why there was never a review the SX 40 here on DP ?
