XZ-1 at the ballgame

Padres-Phillies, last night in San Diego. Took my SZ-10 for telephoto action (see SZ-10 ballpark post), and the XZ-1 for everything else. Each camera in a shirt pocket, with a spare battery that could fit either. Portable dream! Some XZ-1 pictures --

You are putting some of the XZ-1 owners here to shame, capturing the athmosphere like this.

These are great pictures! Your pictures just proved (again) there is no need to bring DSLR/Kit lens if XZ-1 can do this well. I also like the idea of two pocket cam sharing the same battery.

The photos look good. It's nice to have those cameras that give us that extra entertainment. Sometimes when I've done that at sports games, I have had a tendency to concentrate more on the photography than on the event. But it's all in having fun.

Or, God help you, a DSLR with a 500mm telephoto... although, here near the border, I could probably get some 'recent immigrants' to help carry it around.

Right now, the XZ-1 and SZ-10 two-shirt-pocket combo hits my sweet spot for portability vs. image quality. With the spare battery, I can get about 600 pictures -- 200 from each camera, 200 from the spare battery. Never had a situation that called for that many... most was about 350, at a large hot rod show, all those irresistable old cars, each one with something special.

Re: XZ-1 at the ballgame

You know, maybe someday there will be an automatically-focusing-zooming high-quality camera that we could wear on our foreheads... programmed to catch action sequences all by itself --

{runner-on-third
focus home plate
IF runner not run when batter hits ball
THEN refocus for play at first
}

Football (American) would be even simpler... just lock on the quarterback, he's either going to throw it or run with it. And cricket would be easy also, although the Indians and Pakistanis might try to hack each other's action-cam software.
