D800 Shutter Release Cord?

I ordered a shutter release cord for my D800, a Nikon MC-DC2. If I Google "D800 Shutter Release Cord" the MC-DC2 comes up with every retailer. HOWEVER, it doesn't fit. Does anyone have one that fits? What is the part number?
Thanks in advance.

Re: D800 Shutter Release Cord?

I purchased a Phottix Remote from ebay. Works really well. Used it for some 4.5 min photos and remote with mirror up. A lot cheaper than the Nikon models.

Any of the 10-pin connector remotes will work.

For a cheap ($21.60) wireless remote:

Check the Nikon D800 System Chart

Nikon ML-3
Nikon MC-36

Lots of cheap 3rd party corded remotes available as well.

According to the Phottix site, the TR-90 N10 remote you linked is an MC-DC2 compatible model.
The TR-90 N8 seems to be the Nikon MC-36 compatible model:

Odd that it's on the system chart... the MC-DC2 is not mentioned in the manual, and the camera does not appear to even have a socket for it.

MC-36 is the one you want will all the functions, unless you want wireless.

Note: If you use the Nikon GP-1 GPS unit, it will use the 10 pin connector so you have to get the release which plugs into the GP-1.

True! I use the Nikon MC-DC2 shutter release cord plugged into the GP1. Works like a charm.

EDIT: After reading JMacedo's post, and taking a better look at the chart, it now makes perfect sense - it indicates the MC-DC2 is an accessory to be plugged into the GP-1 GPS unit, and not directly into the D800.

That one has the wrong connector. You want this one from Amazon:

Re: D800 Shutter Release Cord?

Does Photix make this is a wireless option? The link you provided is for the 10pin wired remote. I can't seem to find a 10pin wireless option from Photix, let along other brands with a good reputation for working well.
