Hi Dinah!

i talk to you in Canon forum.

Your question is very difficult to response.

A camera is as a shoes pair! LOL

The 2 cameras you mentionned: Canon G1X and the Panasonic GX1 are 2 excellent
tools.

As you know, i have the G1X. For me, it is excellent for what i do in photographies.

That camera is a very excellent point and shot with a superb IQ quality. But the time between 2 photos is probably too slow for sports or children, for exemple.

The Panasonic GX1 is an excellent camera too. But with exchange lenses (more
expensive). But that camera is probably better for sports and children.

Continue to ask question in forum.

Go on camera's dealer. Take in your hand the camera. You will find yours.

Good luck!

Blue.

Thanks for the advice

Hi Peter ....yes I remember you name ..

I spent long time checking ur flicker account yesterday...... Great pic in Canada I went there three times and ur country is beautiful .

Actually I decided to go with Canon G1x but will postpone buying any cam now till I read and educate myself more about this feild..

Do u have it with the regular or more expensive one? I noticed they offer u two choices.
.

And the thing you said about delay between two shots in lumix is very important to me. I want a fast cam that will respond to me , i love taking pictures in parades and my kids and this point very important to me thank you for bringing it up.

Would really appreciate if u tell me what is this feature called in digital cam would??so I can know that while reading the cam specifications?

Thanks again learning tons of info from all of you guys

IQ of the GX1 (I own one) is excellent, easily as good (if not better) than the Canon. The thing is, the difference will be so slight it really doesn't matter. Both offer excellent IQ.

Lumix has the touch screen which I like

Turned my touchscreen OFF

But canon LCD has higher resolution

LCD resolution is (to me) irrelevant. Outdoors in bright sun, you can't see it, and you can't use it for much beyond framing anyway.

The LCD will have zero impact on your images as it plays no part in IQ.

Pls help me decide

So really, THE big difference between those two cameras is that the GX1 has interchangeable lenses. And Panasonic have some very nice lenses to choose from.

Delay between shots (on the GX1?)? No delay. Whoever said that was using disinformation to sway you away from Panasonic.

I own the GX1, and I can tell you that there is no delay between shots (and I shoot RAW).

The GX1 is very responsive, but like all CDAF cameras, it is the AF system that can cause a camera to appear slow. That said, AF on the GX1 is fast and responsive, especially in good light. If you know what you are doing, getting AF lock should never be an issue.

If you wanted/needed something faster, you would have to go to a DSLR.

Thanks you so much for taking the time to answer all my questions
The more I read the more I am convinced that the canon G1x is the cam for me.
Will wait a little ( to educate my self more ) and then buy it
Thanks again

You are welcome, and good luck, no matter which camera you get. But don't wait too long, or else you may find another new camera singing it's siren song to you

Maybe at low ISO levels. Kind of funny how u4/3 people avoid the higher ISO question.

Not to mention the enhanced DR of the G1X.

Funny how? I don't own the GX1 nor the G1X, but according to the dpreview comparison widget the Panasonic is better at high ISO.

I tried M43 and 43. Too little DR. Stick with APS C and the better sensors.

I have K 01 on the way.
