P310 vs. P300 and 6 real world samples
about one year ago I bought a Nikon P300. What I didn't like:
1.) No 3:2 aspect ratio
2.) Loss of detail even at lowest ISO
3.) No tweakings of sharpness, saturation, NR, ...
4.) No ISO button
Now I have the P310 and these things are much better. When you set NR to low, you can get much better pictures with P310 then with P300. There is a 3:2 aspect ratio and you can dedicate fn button to ISO.
So ignore the P310 review from photographyblog. He is very fast with his reviews, but not always careful. (SX40 has no hot shoe ...).
I think, he always shoots samples with standard setting and the standard NR of P310 is a little too high.
Here are some samples. CC welcome!
A great little camera. I have the P300 and think it is great for the money, but that 310 really does seem to be an improvement..
I'm happy to read that!
I owned a p300 for short time and i liked much the fast lens and all the creative featires it had.
I also liked much tue color rendition and the control layout.
But it had 2 big issues:
too much smearing of details
af often failed.
So,i'm glad to read that the p310 has nr setting (no review told this!!!!)
So i would like to ask you:
which other image settings are available?nr,sharpness,hue...?
how works the af? Is it good? And in low light?
in auto shot is a setting like on the canons to shoot many pics after 10 seconds (and not just 1..)
Thanks very much!
I have a P300 and use it almost exclusively for doing 1080P Video. I have a mount where it can sit on the hot shoe of my D4 and do video while I shoot stills with the D4.
Do you have any comparison of the 1080P video of the P310 vs P300?
