Samsung WB750 new review

http://www.steves-digicams.com/camera-reviews/samsung/wb750/samsung-wb750-review.html

There is a quiet good new review from Steve posted 04/02/2012:

The Samsung WB750 is a powerful compact package which boasts some unmatched features in this size and price range. With a plethora of creative options, good image quality, and blazing fast performance, the WG750 is touch to beat in the compact Super-zoom category. It does however shot a bit more noise than we'd like to see.

I personally enjoy this cam amongst my EX1/TL500 and WB2000/TL350!

Re: Samsung WB750 new review

It does seem positive. It is good that the megapixel count is reasonable at 12. I did have a WB2000 which was very good for video. This must be the first camera where they have this HD Video/simultaneous stills on a more sensible mp. My Canon SX40 still pauses the video when you take a still. It is a pity the lens is not a bit faster even at the expense of zoom.

Sorry talking nonsense. The WB2000 is only 10mp.

Re: Samsung WB750 new review

what a randomly timed review.

also, while the review is positive, that website seems to be positive about most cameras anyway. however, teh 750 does look like a solid camera.

The only website I've seen that actually says it does not recommend cameras in lots of cases, esp. compact cameras, is digitalcamerainfo.com, see:

http://www.digitalcamerainfo.com/d/Digital-Camera-Reviews.htm

A website where the final value judgement is mostly worthless is photographyblog.com, as no camera review I've seen there, ever rated a camera as less than 'above average'. So where are the average and below average cameras then? Don't they write up reviews for those or is the whole 'above average' and star system basically worthless? I think both. Bad stuff needs to be identified and websites unwilling to do this give a bias as if all equipment is good and that it's mostly up to your wishes in features etc. to select a camera.

Re: Samsung WB750 new review

Hi!

I just got one today for my wife. (was going to get a WB700 but they are out of stock here) Wanted her camera to use the same battery as mine.

While I do love my EX1, its very hard to beat the video quality of the 750 right out of the box. When set on the 'Smart' setting it does seem to take a while before it takes a picture. She's not too pleased about that. Video seems immediate. Very nice product.

Was a little surprised that the USB cable (the camera end) is different than the EX1. Thought they were the same. Would save taking multiple cables if they were the same. Oh well, not a biggie.

Really can't go wrong with this camera.

Thanks

Re: Samsung WB750 new review

People always seem to have a downer on computer magazine reviews of cameras, but I find here in the UK, Computer Shopper and PC Pro have very useful tests and are not afraid to say when a camera is bad or lacking in something and will state which is the best against current competition even if they haven't done it as a group test.

From memory they gave the WB650 higher marks than the WB750 but that could just be in comparison to their contemporaries at the time.
