WB550 does not like my new 64GB SDXC card :(

Well I was disapointed to find out my WB550 will not accept my new Komputerbay 64GB SDXC SD card

I don't know how to check the firmware if you can and if there is an update to fix this

Can anyone please enlighte me - The card is fine as it works 100% on my Cannon SX220

Samsung HZ15W (WB550)

Re: WB550 does not like my new 64GB SDXC card :(

In the appendices of my WB2000 pdf manual the camera specification section gave under "Storage","Media" the maximum guaranteed memory supported and this was only 8 Gig for SDHC. Presumably the 850 is higher being SDXC and newer but they might not guarantee support for such a high value. Have you checked the manual?

OK no not checked the manual. Oh well I have used my 32GB SDHC card fine with the 550. How things quickly change - common place now for many new models to accept 64GB cards ! Odd to read old posts about why anyone would want more than 2 GB lol !

Misread 550 as 850

Sorry misread the 5 as an 8. Given the vintage of the camera I would be suprised if it could take an SDXC card let alone a 64 gig one. The camera was announced in Feb 2009 before SDXC was first released as far as I know. I cannot imagine they would bother updating the firmware to give SDXC support if it was not installed.

The Canon SX220 is a 2011 camera so it is unlikely that such a recent high specification card will work in a 2009 vintage camera.

Where to look for firmware will depend on where you sourced the camera. You do not give any indication of your country in the post or profile.

Re: WB550 does not like my new 64GB SDXC card :(

Sorry I was slow posting and missed this. The SDXC format is only 2 years old so this will be the show stopper if nothing else. I think my WB2000 worked fine with class 4 SDHC with full HD video and simultaneous stills.

2 years is a long time in technology but what real improvement we get can be debateable.

Yes the WB550 is an 'old' camera then :-/

Oh well at least 32GB work fine which is a lot more than it should it seems

I am in the UK and the 550 was bought here !
