Good images indeed. Looks like the D800 is a winner in this genre.....

They're all good but the one with the lady and the sidewalk chalk is outstanding in my opinion. It just pops

Re: Nikon D800 + Nikon 35mm f1.4 street photography ( Large)

very nice photos!

I've seen the pics you posted on another topic (with the 85 if I remember correctly).

I think they all have a tendency to be a bit too "clarified" (I mean the "clarity" setting in lightroom). That produces a harsher bokeh (more nervous). I would lower it a little. Or maybe I would apply it with a brush on the subjects' faces/bodies, leaving the bokeh alone.

great results anyway!!

Wow, you must have a great way with people to get this kind of openness. Thanks so much for sharing!

Ditto. That's one for the book/gallery/retrospective.

hi,
I like your style

Do you walk about just with one lens or carry many ?

As a street lens, what are your comments on the 35mm f1.4G vs the 85mm f1.4G ? in terms of opportunities to use the focal length

Do you ever use 50mm ?

really appreciate you posting

Question?

Hello, you made very nice portraits serie, well done!

My question is, I guess you do ask these people to take pictures from them, how many would say no out of 100 persons?

I always feel so wrong when asking a person if I can take a picture of him/her. They kinda always say no anyway here in Paris. i think people in my country are not as kind as americans can be.
Thank you for your answer,
Bill

Would love to see those pictures in colors....

Color accuracy is always my main concern in any new SLR.

Many thanks in advance.

Bill these are just outstanding, I especially like the one with the young woman on the street.

Question: what ISO and shutter speed do you find yourself hovering around most times in your street shots? I'm still trying to get the hang of my D800 and my shots aren't anywhere near as sharp as yours.

Great work, but it's not street photography. A portrait taken on a street is NOT street photography. It's still portrait photography, nowhere near in the true meaning of street photography. Please google Chris Weeks' guide to Street Photography to find out what it's really about.

Once again very nice images, in particular the one of the girl drawing, and the one of the kid with the iPod. Those two are perfect.

Looks like Ann Arbor. Nice place. I have family there and go to the Art Fair every chance I get.

Re: Nikon D800 + Nikon 35mm f1.4 street photography ( Large)

35/1.4 is the best focal length and aperture ever on full frame

Some people swear by 50, but I think it's boring. 24 is too wide for day-to-day. 35 is just right!

Truly amazing pictures Bill, you have a rare talent to get people to relax.

Would you mind explaining a couple of details in the process you use? Specifically the following:

1. How do you approach somebody to take their photo?
2. What sort of things do you say to them to relax them?
3. Do you take lots of photos of the same person or just a couple?

4. Do you ask them lots of questions about themselves to better judge how to portray them?
5. Do you offer to pay them for the photo session?
6. Do you get them to sign a model release form?
7. Do you sell your work?

Thanks Bill
