your opinions count!

Dear friends,

I recovered from a severe psychological trauma of being rejected by the Queen (I was denied British visa :D) and finished my commercial web site. Now i is all modern and even has a real blog, just like all real photographers have nowadays. Your comments will be greatly appreciated!

Re: your opinions count!

It's looking fine and I like the blog, but you might want to correct this "acclamed" under Services.

All the very best.

Don't take it personally

The Queen protects her subjects! It is not your fault.

Your site is fascinating....diverting....but the cat? It reminds me of simon's cat

One more thing: when in the blog, there is no 'Home' button or, like in all other categories, the menu bar on top of the page. Of course, one can always use the 'previous page' option of the browser, but that's a bit crude IMO.

Kind regards.

Re: your opinions count!

Tried to leave a comment on your blog (love the chef-in-action-working-on-his-pasta) but for some reason, it didn't work. Either the settings on my computer, or an error on the blog. Thought I'd mention that. Otherwise, I like it. Detroit, MI, US, World, Universe..... is a bit too much. I like the stripped-down look&feel so I'd probably just leave it at Detroit, MI, United States. This from someone who's currently sitting across the pond...

I would agree with the above. The PLANET EARTH • SOLAR SYSTEM • UNIVERSE stuff is something you'd find in a twelve year old's school exercise book. It's very much at odds with the otherwise nice clean professional look you have created.

I'd agree: this definitely has to go: PLANET EARTH • SOLAR SYSTEM • UNIVERSE

Re: your opinions count!

Erm . . why were you denied a UK visa . . .should I emigrate to china!
Is it your friendship with Marc which is counting against you?

Or is it that excellent S2 review (we've had disagreements with the Germans before).

Being a UK citizen myself, I'd like to provide you with a personal visa . . but I'm not sure that it'd work!

To be honest Irakly, I'm rather horrified, but I'm not sure that I'm qualified to intervene

Not to mention, the statement is inaccurate, since you didn't exclude the UK;)

I like your website and blog, you are not only proficient with the camera but also the pen. Looking forward to more of your stories.

Re: your opinions count!

I have viewd your photographs on line years ago. If I remember correctly you have a Russian site that was also linked to an America web site. I viewed many images from both sites. That's when I discoverd that as far as I was concerned you are an artist.
Is a Blog different from a web site?

And what's this about you being denied by the Queen of England? Are you not a well published and internationaly known photograper who also provides photographic education in various schools? What's her problem with you?

Re: your opinions count!

sorry to hear about your visa troubles, but you know, you do make quite provocative statements on here, there were always going to be ramifications:)

just read your site cover to cover and I think it's great, very professional job, also works well on i-devices! if I had any criticism it would to suggest you thin out your resume, I think there's a lot of padding there which is superfluous to requirements

lovely job though, interesting work too!

If you don't mind, check the spelling for the word "curicullum" in the employment section.

Re: your opinions count!

The worm has to taste good to the fish, not the fisherman, so what I say may be off the mark.

There are some typos (e.g. Services : "acclamed"), there are some inconsistencies (period, comma or nothing at the end; no difference between hyphen and dash: info , section 'employment'). This may be bean counting, but a letter of application with these little formal errors would probably be put aside.

The arrangement of the website is clear and fast, but for my taste the menu bar below is unneeded whereas the menu bar in the blog is missing. Why are there two lists of clients?

What is the purpose of the vitruvian cat on the home page? You can find it on cell phone cases ( http://www.etsy.com/listing/62862311/cell-phone-case-da-vinci-vitruvian-cat ); anyway, there are too many vitruvian cats and vitruvian men in the world, so the symbol appears trivialized, for me cute. Rather, I'd like to see the photographer at work, in the studio etc.; that would give an impression of his professionality.

As to the wording, I'm not sure whether everything is beyond any doubt or whether everything should be mentioned. (e.g. contact : "It will not explode. Promise!")

The nature of the website should provoke one surprising idea in the mind of the visitor, comparable with the artistic work of the photographer.

Irakly,

The very first page won me over. Having a Vitruvian cat endears you to me already.

Re: your opinions count!

Ok... now in all seriousness...

Your first page has to grab people and make them want to learn more. IMO (which is only based on my personal prejudices), I think there needs to be at least one photo on the main page. If you have a picture that won in a competition, or is most likely to have been viewed by someone, then it should be there as it will ring a memory bell. What, if anything, on the first page would cause a visitor to want to see more?

Your portfolio page stylistically looks great. But the crop of the pictures feels awkward. To me, they feel claustrophobic. I would rather see smaller tiles of the entire picture as it would immediately let me see your composition. As the web page is visual, every picture that you see should showcase your work instead of showing a diminished image that they have to click on to see the real deal.

Finally, what I've always liked about your work is the wonderful use of color and juxtaposition of the subjects to the environment. A blank white background doesn't showcase your greatest strength.
