The solution to Fuji's problems is with Canon

Canon has a black dot problem with the 5D cameras. Fuji has a white dot problem with the X10...

If only these two companies joined forces, their problems would negate each other. I'm certain of it.

Canon EOS 5D Fujifilm X10

Good one...

I've seen the 5D MkIII examples, the problem surfaces again.

I’m certain both companies would end up with 127-127-127 gray dots.

Can you point out to the examples, just to see how they look now?

Do you know with certainty that neither black nor white expresses dominance in the phenotype?

Hmm... on a 4th thought (the 1st was OP's and the 3rd yours) Canon's dots came first, were discoverd only at pixel level and eventually got fixed... so currently they are much more of an elusive allele.
Shall we settle with an R223 G223 B223 grubby off-white?

LOL. I haven't read the term 'allele' in aaages.

I'm comfortable with this and agree we should settle with an [R|G|B]223 grubby off-white. So...yes...yes we shall.

The 50% gray value for sRGB should be something like 188-188-188. XD

I stand corrected, good point. The excuse I can think of for not having color space into account is that it does not apply at sensor level...

Speaking of Stevie Wonder, have you seen this Aussie movie, "Proof" ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0102721/ ), about a blind photographer ? Alas, I haven't yet, so I'm borrowing this from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proof_%281991_film%29#Plot :

Martin (Hugo Weaving), blind from birth, grew up fearing that "sighted people will take advantage of his blindness to lie to him, or worse yet, pity him. He has become a resentful, vaguely bitter person who spends his days taking photographs of the world around him, then having various people describe them. He uses these photographs and the Braille descriptions he stamps on them as 'proof' that the world around him really is as others describe it to him."

(Needless to say it was an Orb-free world.)
