I did it. For all humanity. Now, as true members of humanity, read it!

NO.

Because I'll want one if I read it.

Re: Leica S2 review, if you please :)

Thanks for the great review. The S2 is a really great camera. I wonder if they will put a new sensor in it this year at the Photokina. Its been three years since it got launched. I own an Aptus 12 on a DM camera and have not experienced uneven color cast. Sometimes the white balance is far off but can be corrected in the field with the picker tool or in Lightroom. It would be interesting to see if this was really a failing back or bad performance of that equipment under that lighting. I hope that your Leaf dealer will provide you with a new back to verify some findings. If I would be a Leaf dealer I would do that immediately to make sure that the products shows what it is capable off. Thanks again for the review. D!RK

Wow ... very thorough. Thanks for writing your review. It takes a lot of time and effort but can offer others valuable insight.

As an S2 user for about a year, I'd like to echo your thought on the ability to take the camera to where people are going to be photographed. For me, that includes plenty of work on the streets where I'm always confident in knowing what I'm going to get ... whether I want to capture a shot at f2.5 or f11 or in rain, snow or sun. And that's something that I've always wanted to be able to do with a medium format size sensor and Leica lenses.

I'm playing the lottery this Wednesday. Hoping for a Bentley Continental GTC, now with an S2 and some lenses to go...

Really… If you win and get the S2, you won't be needing the Bentley. You will make enough impression getting out of a Mini with S2 in your hands. I know firsthand. As my lease just ended, and I had not done any other arrangements, I can take the Bentley.

I see that you hated it.

I am now confident in my decision to not buy one.

Very nice write up, by the way.

Thanks,

Bill

Fantastic review, Irakly! I have been looking at the S2 for a while now and your thorough review makes me lust ever more for that beautiful machine. How is the back-up service in Europe - though I sure hope you haven't had to "test" that out yet.

Thank you for an amazing write-up and so damn well illustrated too.

Regards
Jorge

geez!

Took me a year to get up the guts to buy an M9 kit. Don't tempt me!

I am not tempting you. I am merely giving you means to tempt yourself

Re: geez!

If you waited that long for the M9 then just wait a bit longer until the 50MP S2.2 will be out this Fall. D!RK

Why?

Why would you do that much work for an internet forum?
Could it be just get under certain phase users skin?

Whatever - I really enjoyed it, I absolutely want an S2, one day, when I can persuade myself that I'll take better pictures with it than I can with my M9- maybe I'll buy one.

Thanks anyway

all the best

Re: Why?

Hey Jono!

I did it mainly for myself, but saw that it could potentially be of interest to aforementioned humanity… You know, compassion and all…

Review aside… If UK Border Agency is kind enough to give me a visa (apparently, it is ain't easy these days for a poor boy from Ukraine), I'll be in London on 21-25th of March… Just so you know…

I'll tell Emma that I'm obliged to buy an S2 because you're so compassionate.

Damn . . assuming that the Chinese haven't heard about my little oddities . . I'll be in China from the 20th until early April. On the other hand, I think I may be in London towards the end of May . .

You are so manipulative!

Chinese have incredibly inquiring minds. It may be too late to keep it under the bed now...
