Show your D700 Travel and Holiday

When I buy D800 I will still keep my D700. I promise.

Here are some travel and holiday shots with D700.

Re: Mediterranean cruise

Thanks for sharing these Lance. I took a Med cruise back in 1958, but I didn't have to pay for it as I was in the Navy riding on the USS Wasp. We went to all the same places except Sicily. These brought back lots of memories. The pics I took back then with my Kodak Retina IIIC are on Kodachrome slides. I will have to get them out again. Your shots are beautiful. Dave

Thank you for your kind words, David.

I am glad that I could bring back some memories for you and I also look forward to seeing some of those photos of way back when you were there. Those Kodachrome slides will be great viewing, I am sure. When I was in my late teens, my next door neighbour used to have slide nights and this is what got me into photography back in the late 70's, so I am not quite your vintage. Loved those slide nights!

I cannot express how much of a good time we had on the cruise. Cruises are not my cup of tea as I couldn't think of anything worse than being cooped up on a ship for 2 weeks sitting round a pool, but it was nothing like this as we were in port every night and doing tours every day and I was in my element taking photos. We never got the chance to sit round the pool! Food is sensational! I highly recommend it!

Re: Show your D700 Travel and Holiday

I'm wrapping up another trip toThailand at the moment. I've been posting a few photos each day to my blog on http://www.radiantphotograph.com

Lenses used were 85mm F1.4D and 24mm F1.4G. Some of the shots of the resort might be 16-35mm. Apart from resizing essentially no post processing has been done. I don't trust the display on my Medion netbook as much as I trust the SOOC jpgs from the D700. I'm looking forward to working with some of my RAW files on a proper display when I'm home. I'm bringing home around 60GB of data.

Cheers

What???!!!! A thread of images in the gear forum -

Is that the pitter patter of social-ism I hear, seeping into the pores of our scared nuts & bolts - threatening us & our children with water fluoridation and contamination of our precious bodily fluids.

Well, when in Rome as they say (and I've always said Caligula was just a tad misunderstood, an edgy sort of bloke). Below are a few snaps from what's become a biannual photography-laced traipse along California's maaaavelous Central Coast - Moro Bay to Big Sur. Put it on your photo travel bucket list.

All taken with the soon to be obsolete D700 (and the 24-120 VR II)
And kudos to the OP, Lance & my bud D. Nall - fine images one & all.

This one is of the Roman spa in the city of Bath. It was pretty dark in this room and I was shocked when the D700 focus locked instantly.

Blue Hour in Italy

Some really stunning pics have been posted already here !
Here are some modest pics taken at Blue Hour in 2011 in Italy.
I posted a short blog entry on Blue Hour photography here :
http://www.apple-and-eve.com

The next one was shot in the Basilica Cistern, Istanbul on a previous trip.
The D700 did very well here at high ISO.
